About Rebekah
My Journey to Herbalism
My relationship with health and the human body started at age eight when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Growing up with a chronic health condition meant I had to pay close attention to my body’s signals from a very early age.
As a young adult, my curiosity led me to explore the world of botany and plant life. I began learning about traditional herbs historically used to support balanced blood sugar. With careful observation, I began integrating different herbs into my daily routine to support my overall wellness. I quickly realized how dynamic plant medicine could be, learning firsthand to respect their power, including stepping back from certain herbs during pregnancy and nursing when they were contraindicated.
The Turning Point
After the birth of my last child, I faced a major health setback following a recommended post-pregnancy procedure that severely disrupted my hormonal balance. It resulted in a sudden, frustrating 60-pound weight gain and systemic strain on my body.
When I followed up with a healthcare provider, explaining that I was already maintaining a strict diet of around 1,200 calories daily without progress, the advice I received was simply to cut an additional 500 calories a day.
That moment was a profound turning point. Realizing that restrictive counting wasn't the answer, I stepped up to take control of my own health. I dove headfirst into deep research, focusing on nutrition, lifestyle, and herbs to truly understand how I could support my body's healing process.
I sought out root-cause answers and built a supportive healthcare team, eventually partnering with an amazing doctor who respected my perspective, guided my care, and allowed me to take an active, driving role in my health journey. Healing is rarely a straight line; for me, it remains a continuous path of progress, not perfection.
From Personal Curiosity to Master of Science
That deep dive into research and hands-on experimentation ignited an unstoppable passion for learning. The more I discovered about botanical literature and herbal applications, the more I wanted a rigorous, formal foundation.
That drive led me to the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Oregon, where I enrolled in their advanced online curriculum. I immersed myself in the science, history, and application of plant medicine, ultimately earning my Master of Science in Herbal Medicine with a 4.0 GPA.
Bringing "Joy of Herbs" to You

The background I bring to my videos, live classes, planting guides, and blog posts is grounded in both rigorous academic study and a deep, personal respect for the plant world. My goal is simple: to provide practical educational tools so you can explore herb cultivation and traditional plant uses with confidence.
